IRS means Internal revenue service (IRS): In IRS scam where scammers operate by placing disturbing official-sounding calls to unsuspecting citizens, threatening them with arrest and frozen assets if thousands of dollars are not paid immediately. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said in a statement. “Scammers are evolving and using more and more automated calls in an effort to reach the largest number of victims possible.”
Last year Indian police were arrested, Sagar Thakur. Sagar was the mastermind of IRS scam call centers in the state of Maharashtra and one center in Ahmedabad,” said Mukund Hatote, assistant commissioner of police in Thane, just north of Mumbai.
But Again IRS scam is back which is more sophisticated than ever.
“A member of Team Clark got a text from a friend of hers recently telling her about four phone calls he has received — all claiming to be from the IRS about supposed lawsuits that are being filed against him.”
Sign of IRS scam:- Scammer call you to demand immediate payment using specific payment method i.e prepaid debit card, wire transfer.
But the IRS doesn’t use this type of method s for tax payments. Predominantly, The IRS sends you a bill to any taxpayer who Owes taxes.
