Having established a strategic partnership two years ago, Awin has announced it has acquired an equity stake in affiliate network Commission Factory to further cement its presence in both Australia and the Asia Pacific (APAC).
The connection between the two businesses has risen substantially since working together in 2017. Awin and Commission Factory aligned activities in Sydney’s business district in September 2018, with employees in Australia and APAC shifting into a more key reporting framework to promote better business relations across the region.
In addition to the announcement, Commission Factory initiated its activities in Singapore and recruited three employees in Kuala Lumpur as part of the company’s ongoing drive to South East Asia. It is known that in due course an APAC commercial director will be appointed to promote the development.
Favourable economic conditions
Acquisition and development plans could not come at a better moment as in 2020, according to the World Economic Forum, South East Asia was listed as one of the world’s largest economies.
In addition, affiliate marketing has become an essential component of Australia’s marketing operations, with over 70% of the top 100 distributors now running an affiliate program (Power Retail) and seeing up to 20% of fresh channel clients (IAB Australia).
“It provides us excellent joy to welcome the team to the Awin family after working closely over the previous two years to create a good and mutually beneficial relationship with Commission Factory. Adding Australia’s biggest affiliate network offers the perfect basis for continuing to grow our footprint in Australia and APAC, increasing possibilities for our advertisers, publishers and technology partners in these areas, “said Awin CEO Mark Walters.
“Over the past two years, the time our businesses have spent together has shown such excellent synergy and collaboration between our products and our teams that this next step in formalizing this partnership is an interesting one. Being component of something larger and joining the worldwide phase is an objective that Commission Factory’s founders have always aspired to and welcomed into the Awin family is a huge step forward, not just for the business and our team, but for an sector we love, “said Zane McIntyre, Commission Factory’s CEO.
