Spurt in Internet Usage to Drive Digital Marketing in India – IAMAI

Delivering the keynote address at the 15th Marketing Conclave organized by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), Manish Maheshwari, Managing Director of India Operations at Twitter India said, “There are 1.1 billion expected smartphone users in India by 2024, Internet users in rural India are growing at a rate of 35 percent and Indians as a whole are expected to consume 18 GB of information pe. “This development in how individuals consume data and communicate with each other has also inspired brands to take measures in a fresh direction,” he added. It has motivated these advertisers to develop beyond unilateral communication and move towards participatory design.

The theme of the flagship case was ‘ Age of MadTech ‘ and the debates focused on ‘ Marketing Future. ‘ High-profile industry stalwarts who shared insights into technology developments in advertising and marketing attended the meeting.

Conference speakers believed that digital was the way forward for brands to attain the greatest RoI, as well as building confidence and engagement with customers. The speakers said digital would play a critical part in capturing and engaging with that generation, being the era of millennials. To capture their imagination, this would also present interesting difficulties for brands.

It is relevant to note that India’s digital marketing landscape is phenomenally increasing and anticipated to multiply in the future. According to a DAN report, the Indian digital advertising market was pegged at Rs 61,878 crore as of 2018 and is expected to expand to a market size of Rs 85,250 crore with a CAGR of 10.62 percent by 2021.
